Plagiarism Policy

Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Local Wisdom in Education (JLWE) will be screened using the Turnitin similarity detection tool. The maximum similarity index allowed is 20%. Manuscripts with a similarity level exceeding this threshold may be returned to the authors for correction or may be immediately rejected, particularly in cases indicating plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

JLWE is committed to ensuring that all authors are careful and comply with international standards of academic integrity, particularly with regard to plagiarism.

Plagiarism occurs when an author takes ideas, information, or words from another source without proper credit to the original source. Even when it occurs unintentionally, plagiarism remains a serious academic violation and is unacceptable in international academic publications.

When an author uses specific information learned from a particular source, such as a name, date, place, statistical figure, or other detailed information, a citation is required. This is only exempt in cases of common knowledge, where the information is widely available from multiple sources or is generally known, for example, that Indonesia is the most populous Muslim-majority country in the world.

When an author adopts an idea from another author, a citation is required even if the idea is later expanded or developed further. This may include an interpretation of data, a methodological approach, a theoretical perspective, or a conclusion drawn from prior scholarship. Regardless of the type of idea used, authors must acknowledge the original source. Where the idea is further developed by the current author, the original source must still be cited, followed by the author’s own elaboration.

When an author reproduces words from another source, both a citation and quotation marks are required. Whenever four or more consecutive words are identical to a source that has been read, quotation marks must be used to indicate the original wording of another author. In such cases, citation alone is not sufficient.

JLWE takes academic integrity very seriously, and the editors reserve the right to withdraw acceptance from a manuscript found to violate any of the standards set out above. For further information, prospective authors may contact the editorial office at jlwe@indosaintech.id.
