Journal History

The Journal of Local Wisdom in Education (JLWE) was established in response to the urgent need for a dedicated platform to publish research findings from teachers, practitioners, lecturers, and students who explore the use of local wisdom in education. Despite the growing recognition of culturally responsive pedagogy, many innovative practices and research outcomes rooted in local traditions remain undocumented or inaccessible to the broader academic community.

Indonesia, with its extraordinary cultural diversity, offers a wealth of indigenous values, traditional arts, local knowledge, and community-based practices that have the potential to enrich educational theories and practices. However, these cultural assets are often underrepresented in mainstream educational research and publications. JLWE was founded to bridge this gap, providing a scholarly space where local wisdom can be systematically studied, documented, and disseminated.

The inaugural issue, Volume 1, Number 1, was successfully published in June 2025, marking the beginning of JLWE’s commitment to advancing culturally grounded and sustainable educational research.
